“This was an opportunity my fiance and I could look what was in the box and plan meals and be creative in what we wanted to make with everything; picking up box from a small business allowed us to support them and get out of the house to explore more of our new community; allowed us to have conversations and be reminded how fortunate we are to have a community that puts love into growing things we will eat and just how convenient it is to support our local farmers to make this a sustainable way of life.”

What does “CSA” stand for?
CSA stands for community supported agriculture. Members who participate in a csa program receive produce directly from the farm. Through joining our csa program you will be able to: be part of an intentional community with other members who value eating seasonally and locally, receive local and fresh food on a weekly basis, have knowledge of where your food came from and the story behind it, pay the farmer who grew the food directly, and receive weekly recipes and mealtime conversation cards.
Why go with a Brown Girl Farms produce box?
By signing up to become a Brown Girl Farms CSA (community supported agriculture) member you are not only signing up for local fresh produce that reflects heritage crops from the Brown Girl Farms family’s mixed identities, you are also signing up to be an intentional part of a community that celebrates and uplifts the various black and queer identities that are connected to food and the land. Furthermore, our produce boxes invite members to utilize tools and practices that center intentional and meaningful conversations as well as self-care practices during mealtime. Our produce box program is also modeled after Soul Fire Farm’s produce program. Members will also be invited to join a private facebook group where they can connect with other members in the program, receive farm updates, and participate in Q and A sessions about gardening and farming!
Honoring our ancestors.
At Brown Girl Farms we give gratitude to ancestors who came before us and are always speaking and surrounding us with guidance, love, and support. My great-grandmothers were strong, independent, women who kept their family and faith lives close. Their love of cooking and use of African American heritage crops made an early and lasting impression on me. Each farm box season we will honor our ancestors who helped shape the fruition of Brown Girl Farms through highlighting family recipes.
How long is the produce box program?
Our csa season consists of a Spring Program and a Summer program. Our Spring/Summer program runs for 12 consecutive weeks and produce box pick ups are on Saturdays. Our late summer/fall program this year will run for 6 weeks.

How do I receive my Brown Girl Farms produce box?
